Smart Home Cost Estimator
Smart Home Cost Estimator lets you plan each room separately, from a few bulbs to a full setup. Choose quantities, enter your price range, and include the extra costs that matter to your project.
The starting prices are editable planning examples in US dollars, not live prices or quotes. Replace them with prices for the products you plan to buy.

What this budget includes
Your upfront range includes the device quantities and prices you enter, plus any installation and other upfront costs. The first-year range also includes 12 months of your entered subscription total. Blank extra-cost fields are excluded. The tool does not calculate tax, financing, future replacements, discounts, or rebates.
Check these details before buying
- Compatibility: choose devices that work with your platform. Some need a separate hub or bridge; Matter setup may need a compatible controller and Thread border router. Change the hub count to match your setup. If you use both assistants, read our guide to using Alexa and Google Home together.
- Installation: check the wiring and power requirements for each product. Get a quote for work you need help with, then enter the project total above.
- Ongoing plans: check the current Ring subscription options or your camera maker's plans for the features you need. Enter a household total to avoid counting the same plan twice.
- Existing devices: set the quantity to 0 if you already own a device and will keep using it. Avoid counting one hub in several rooms.
Compare your potential savings
Energy Savings Calculator estimates the annual change in energy costs and simple payback for the upgrades you choose.
Choose the right equipment
- Compare CCTV monitors and TVs before adding a dedicated display to your camera budget.
- Plan washing machine leak sensor placement to decide whether a spot sensor or cable sensor suits the space.
- Check which bulb schedules keep working offline when choosing between Wi-Fi bulbs and a hub-based setup.
